Hey girls, wanna see my bear repellent? Here's a caveat: it only works with male pee. While it saves our fair ladies the embarrassment of performing the duck-and-crawl routine around the tent, it means you'll either have to be a male or carry one with you.
Here's an extra tip: do not, under any circumstance, combine that strategy with this piece of gear. Consequences could be dire if nature calls for an extra layer of protection in the middle of the night.
Here's another caveat: it only seems to work on bears and has no noticeable effect on other calamities, such as Socialists, bureaucrats and other tax collection agents.
Having said that, I'll risk the bet that your Liberal neighbor might feel less inclined to come at your fence and gloat over President-elect B Hussein Obama once he's witnessed you (or your hubby) taking a leak around the yard in broad daylight.
Might be worth a try.

President-elect Obie on stretching one’s executive muscles* Obama 'to use executive orders' *Possibly just a warm up before reversing some of James Madison's as well, heh?
Barack Obama will use executive orders to reverse some of President Bush's policies, his transition chief says.
Full story.
- Note that the title of the article on the site has even more gloat on it: Obama 'to reverse Bush decisions'—It's a wet-panties party all over Europe, but it's only irritating until you realize that at the end of the day (Obama or not) Europe is the backyard of the developed world and these clowns a gang of bums sitting on their asses. They know it too mind you, and that's why they're so bitter and hateful.

Parliament of WhoresAnd maybe you thought "Sure Diss, but how cynical exactly?"
Well, perhaps like Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission:
"Can I tell you something? Certain leaders in the developing world, most of them on the left, have told me privately that they would have preferred a Republican candidate to win. That’s because they fear the protectionist policies of a Democratic President and Democratic Congress. I hope that President Obama will not yield to this protectionist temptation. I believe that would be bad for us all, in particular for Europe."I'm not even going to touch on the topic of the EU complaining on protectionism—that's pot and kettle stuff if there ever was any—but I hope you'll admire the Euro-Socialist mindset at work. They loathe America even as they envy her wealth and power ; and their mainstream media unleashes a daily, constant barrage of anti-globalization and anti-free market economy propaganda.
Yet at the same time they are perfectly aware that their own "model" of society is unsustainable without the American Capitalist powerhouse bailing them out1.
I suppose all that cynicism is a defense mechanism. Those pathetic losers couldn't stand their reflection in the mirror otherwise.
- This is, incidentally, also the reason why the EU consistently joins the UN to call for an end to the U.S. economic embargo on Cuba. The Capitalists are the last chance of the Communist regime over there as well.

Obama, the perfect presidentFor the far and, more often than not, extreme Left: these lunatics live in a web of propaganda, conspiracy theories and economic fallacies so dense that they actually have a very limited knowledge of hard facts, particularly when it comes to America. However, they can and do recognize the universal signs of International Marxism dropped by the new President-elect, and they just know Obama is one of them, even if the average American voter doesn't. For the first time since the fall of the Soviet Union, (Old) Europe's appallingly numerous Marxist-Leninists, Trotskyites and Stalinists see the winds of change blowing in their favor.
Perfect.
For the Socialists1 and Social Democrats: these people are obsessed with "countering American hegemony"1. Part of them are deluded1, the rest is cynical1 but all of them realize that said "hegemony" is a direct result of the U.S. building wealth and power by embodying what they oppose1: (comparatively) limited government, strong defense, free market economy, work ethics, self-reliance and individual responsibility2. All of them realize that their own antagonist policies are the primary cause of their poor economic and geostrategic performances—the only Socialists who advocate Socialism are those on top of the social ladder who actually benefit from this thieving system—and that they cannot "beat" America without becoming like her—thus renouncing their apparatchiks' privileges. All of them know that Obama will set America adrift from the social model that made her such a successful nation, and sail towards the fetid and primeval swamps of Socialism, where Old Europe is still stuck. All of them1, in short, expect his presidency to weaken America, and all of them1 sees anything that weakens America as a good thing.
Perfect.
For the Far-Right3: take the class-warfare component out of the Far-Left and replace with race-warfare (OEM spare part #1936). For the rest, they are exactly the same brand of anti-American and anti-Capitalism Collectivists (sharing identical conspiracy theories and economic fallacies with the Marxists). They broke open the Champaign at France's National-Front's offices on that bright day of September 11, 2001—a fact I wish that side of the U.S anti-Jihad front that advocates an alliance de circonstance with Old Europe's white supremacists (and regards Jean-Marie Le Pen as "acceptable") would consider. They too, like the Socialists1, see every opportunity to weaken America as a good thing. In addition to that, the new President-elect vindicates one of the pillars of their ideological framework: these folks, after all, define America as an infamous melting pot run by "Kikes" and "Niggers", and they will go "Ha-ha! Told you so!" It's quite ironic though... You can't really blame these f*tards for looking at the U.S. election from the racial point of view: everybody on the Left did, starting with the happy winner himself4...
Finally, the Right, conservative & libertarians (or classical liberals as we call them here). You know, these guys who harbor the crazy ideas that the government should be limited, taxation drastically reduced, the market freed of State intervention and the people left to their own devices and the pursuit of happiness under the protection of a strong defense. For them, needless to say, Obama is a very, very bad news (I mean, picture yourself manning an isolated outpost deep inside enemy lines, and suddenly learning that Central Command has been overrun. See what I mean?)
Well, they have no political significance whatsoever—as a matter of fact they don't exist at all, at least not as a political force per se. Just a bunch of isolated guys like yours truly, hunkered down in their compounds and ideological ghettos, who know that as far as their countries are concerned they are, and always have been, on the wrong side of History5. They won't cast much of a shadow on the current worldwide Socialist renewal.
Perfect...
- For the last time, yes, that includes Nicolas Sarkozy. I'm way beyond tired with those pundits and columnists in France and abroad who persist to tag him as a "right-wing conservative" when everything he says and the little he does demonstrate the exact opposite. However, don't take my word for it, and listen to an expert in Socialism and Socialists: "Sarkozy, you are getting to Socialism, welcome to the club, these are interesting ideas." End of quote—An Hugo Chavez quote that is.
- Yes dear U.S. reader, it's become worse than it was in America, and if Obama's election is any indication it will get worse before it gets better. However, no matter how bad things look from your end, you still have a long way to go before you reach the depth of Statism at which we lurk down here. And I pray you never will.
- That includes the Brussels Journal skinnerds who blabber on the "disappearance of the white" and label themselves Europe's "conservatives".
- Leftists of all persuasion are head over heels with the historical election of a black American. What's truly historic—and dramatic— here is that for the first time, Americans elected a radical Socialist at the head of the Republic.
- And incidentally that when Democracy is regarded as an end in itself, it always is the tyranny of the majority.

That deer on the other hand is now a perfectly regular ACORN registered voter1. One thing you can't take away from the Socialists is that they have the knack of rigging and fixing elections—in America as in anywhere else in the world, apparently.
(Note to Bill: when I say "I put the deer's head in the freezer", I mean just that.)
- Yes, the smartest among you have spotted the fraud: that deer is in fact French. It shouldn't vote in a US election. Dead or alive.

It never works? Let’s try again!Welcome to Europe, Continent of the Crazies:
Troublingly, the watered-down EU plan, which will be reviewed over the coming weeks, allowed for "exceptional circumstances" under which states may suspend the EU's stability and growth pact demanding a three per cent public deficit limit. In short, there's no EU bank rescue fund but there is an agreement to allow the European Union to become a potentially bottomless pit of public spending at the expense of European taxpayers. Of course, that is what the EU French Presidency terms a victory.Emphasized my
Whatever Darling decides, the Government's plans must not simply be designed to mimic the actions of our German friends, of which the German minister, Wolfgang Schäuble, said on Monday: "We learnt from worldwide economic crisis of the 1920s and 1930s that and (sic) economic crisis can result in an incredible threat for all of society."I choose to trust a German on that, and the current rise of all kinds of European Collectivism extremists—Fascists from the Far-right to the Far-left— makes for a distressing vindication.
We've seen it coming—correction, we are seeing it coming—and kept warning each others but to no effect ; Boy, am I sick of this subcontinent, its people and their inability—or unwillingness—to learn from their own past mistakes.

British Burka Cracks
(Probable) Source: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's personal memos by himself: the (probably) Official Blog.
One item in this morning's email had the opposite effect however, and actually managed to be lightly entertaining. Check this out:
* Iran unveils plan for women's car *
Iran announces plans for a car designed specially for women, with features aimed at appealing to females.
Full story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/em/-/1/hi/world/middle_east/7657810.stm
(Emphasis mine).Nice choice of words, indeed, for a spineless article on Iranian women's plight—apparently, the harshest words the Beeb can muster are, quote,
the official Iranian concept of equality is very different from that understood by Western feminists.—made even funnier by the AFP photo they picked up to illustrate the thing: a veiled woman at the wheel.
Funny heh? Yet I won't be outdone or outspoken, and will henceforth suggest another Iran-related top story which I hope the BBC will include in tomorrow's daily email. Check this out:
* Hang out in Tehran: Iranian Tourism Ministry publishes the 2008 Best Gay Bars Guide *I am so in the mood for fun that I shall expect nothing less than your best (Islamic) women driving jokes in the comments, thank you very much.

Le Petit Bill of European Rights
Now for perspective, here is the same book next to a wooden stick coated at one end with potassium chlorate, a little sulfur and starch, a bit of ZnO or perhaps CaCO3, 20-40% of siliceous filler plus diatomite and glue.
Also called a safety match.

Sometimes, I just don't know if I should laugh or cry or put on big huge security shoes and go stomp and kick fluffy bunnies frolicking in the daffodils.
It's the European Union. It does that to you.

Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida viciously degrades Jews and Blacks, under applause“If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention,” Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida said at a panel about the shared agenda of Jewish and African-American Democrats Wednesday. Hastings, who is African-American, was explaining what he intended to tell his Jewish constituents about the presidential race. “Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through,” Hastings added as the room erupted in laughter and applause. So let's sneer a bit: this black guy is in effect telling his audience that Jews and blacks are like, you know, animals and all.
And they applaud him.
Either that, or he is claiming this as Sarah Palin's position on The Toting of Guns And Other Practical Uses of The Boomstick. That would be defamatory for a start but then again: defamation is the very least you can expect from a Democrat.
It is also particularly stupid, and denotes the man's singular ignorance of what guns and hunting are all about: I mean does Alcee Hastings seriously expect the sane people in the audience to believe that in addition to moose, Sarah Palin also has a taste for Jew burger and black burger?
Yeah, stupid only comes second in the short list of what one can reasonably expect from a Democrat.
In addition to that, considering that nothing in Sarah Palin's deeds and pledges ever hinted at her intention or dedication to have subarctic Jews and black hunting safaris (and, perhaps, redecorate the Oval Office's walls with her trophies) then we can only conclude that Alcee Hastings' appalling paranoid rant is nothing more than plain old projection—and one that adds the third pillar to his address to that so-called "panel about the shared agenda of Jewish and African-American Democrats", and perhaps his own character as well:
Defamatory, stupid, and vicious.
Or maybe I'm just being nasty with poor old Alcee, and he just meant to say that since Sarah Palin holds her rank in the food chain, then poor old Alcee logically deduces that she won't be very nice to Jews and blacks. Or something.
For Alcee Hastings and his Merry Band of Applauding Morons that may sound logical—but for the rest of us that's non sequitur at its finest.
While only slightly less vicious and defamatory, it does proceed logically from stupid.

Islamic 5th Column: Sharia-Compliant Finance coming to AmericaOur Iwo Gina Early Warning System sounds the alarm: Wall Street, what's next?. Bits and pieces just to arouse and aggravate you enough to go there and read it all:
Tragically, in the process of leaping out of the scalding subprime frying pan, Wall Street is heading directly into a fire that promises, if anything, to be more devastating than the present disaster. Incredibly, it bears all the hallmarks of subprime with respect to a lack of transparency, a systematic failure to disclose and an utter absence of due diligence, good governance and accountability. The next "what" is called Shariah-Compliant Finance (SCF). (...) Like subprime, it is a black box, in which management and investors alike are told to trust in the experts. In this case, the experts are Shariah authorities who are accorded exclusive responsibility for determining whether investments are "pure" (halal) and therefore acceptable, or "impure" (haram) and not. (...)Read it all and start thinking about options and measures to take.
[...] these authorities are, unsurprisingly, adherents to Shariah. A number of them explicitly embrace its call to jihad (including a former senior member of the Dow Jones Islamic Index, Sheik Taqi Usmani). This "holy war" is to be waged where possible through violent means, where necessary through "soft" means like Shariah-Compliant Finance. For this reason, such Islamists call SCF "financial jihad."
(...)
David Yerushalmi, a litigator specializing in securities law and an expert on Shariah, produced a riveting legal memorandum (...) examining the civil and criminal exposure inherent in Shariah-Compliant Finance [Acrobat PDF — DF]. His conclusion: banks and investment houses offering SCF products may be enabling or engaging in the following: racketeering, antitrust activity, securities fraud, consumer fraud and/or material support for terror.
What makes Shariah-Compliant Finance even more dangerous than subprime is that, in its effort to legitimize and institutionalize Shariah in America, it is advancing a criminal conspiracy whose purpose is the violent overthrow of the United States Constitution and government in favor of Islamic rule. That would make it sedition.
This is potentially far more dangerous for America than a few scumbags crossing the border to take one way flight lessons.
Don't let that happen.

Forest Grunt
Notice: we ask for our readers' indulgence, but due to stretchy pants this picture wasn't taken this morning.
Top cool things about this morning’s 6:00 AM run-in-the-woods routine: starting up under a full moon at an unexpectedly cold predawn hour—Autumn is definitely coming here—and going as the sun slowly rises up in the same crystal clear sky.
Top annoying things about this morning’s 6:00 AM run-in-the-woods routine: spotting a couple of utterly tranquil roe deer in the early morning mist watching me unalarmed, THUS feeling a bit miffed that I couldn’t pack a camera in my (stretchy) running pants.
Or a rifle, for that matter.
Ah yes, perhaps you’re wondering. Indeed, unlike your average practical caveman I do happen to run regularly, even when I do not have a foe to flee or a female to chase1. There is some pretty nasty merde coming down our way in France—perhaps even on the rest of Old Europe—ranging from increasingly violent social unrest to full scale civil war. That’s a given, considering the fetid mix of dominant and disastrous Left and Far-Left politics and parties, the resulting Far-Right rising to the opportunity of feeding on Gallic aborigines’ discontent and fuel their larvated racial prejudices, and the hordes of young French Jihad trainees who will come of age in the next 10 years.
Although there is no way of telling exactly who, what, and when the merde will hit the fan, I know that either the lone rifleman’s Shoot-and-Relocate Power Combo and the team based Fire & Maneuver moves can’t accommodate short-breathed players.
Anybody foolish enough to go soft and complacent these days is like that majority of 1936 French who wouldn’t let the goose-stepping sounds over the German border spoil the Popular Front Party, and distract them from their newly acquired “paid vacations” when it was already obvious that the time for fun, games and welfare benefits had passed.

- And vice versa.
