It goes without saying…

... But it goes even better saying it under Executive Order 13224.
The United States has decided to designate Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, the country's 125,000-strong elite military branch, as a "specially designated global terrorist,"
Well, somebody just had an Epiphany. Better 20 years late than never, I guess.

Of course the Washington Post being on the other side, we get the obligatory scare quotes around the T word (like so: 'Terrorist'), and we get the obligatory comment from 'some analyst' — in this case, Mr. Cirincione from the Soros funded Center for American 'Progress'(1), a highly 'objective'(1) and 'nonpartisan'(1) source, if there was any — contending that calling the Mullahs' elite thugs the 'T' word might indispose them, embarrass them in front of their friends and ruin their chances of getting their share of booze and pussy(2) next Friday night.
The administration's move could hurt diplomatic efforts, some analysts said. "It would greatly complicate our efforts to solve the nuclear issue," said Joseph Cirincione, a nuclear proliferation expert at the Center for American Progress.
"It would tie an end to Iran's nuclear program to an end to its support of allies in Hezbollah and Hamas. The only way you could get a nuclear deal is as part of a grand bargain, which at this point is completely out of reach."
See, that's the inherent flaw with hardcore defeatism: one always assume that the other party can't be moved, even before trying.

Okay, first, I'd like to know what makes Mr. Nuclear Proliferation Expert Sir think that the free world should seek a "nuclear deal" and a "grand bargain" with a bunch of theocratic loonies only looking to buy time until they can 'proliferate' at will, and wipe some countries off the map. Even if we should, it takes two to tango anyway, and the same goes for bargaining with the mad mullahs. Plus, and just like tango, the man leads and the woman follows.

Last time I looked, it's not us in the West who are wearing robes and French kissing straight guys at any occasion(3).

In addition to that, the trouble with Iran is not limited to its nuclear program. Its support to terrorists groups, and its own terrorist activity since 1979 — all under direct control of the aforementioned Revolutionary Guards — are 1) the reason why we can't tolerate a nuclear Iran, unlike, say, a Nuclear Israel, a Nuclear Switzerland or even a Nuclear Disneyland and 2) the reason why it's more than time to treat these thugs as what they simply are: State terrorists. Period, full stop, and no scare quotes required.

I know, I'm being Mr. Obvious here, but apparently there's still 'some analysts' in the audience who have not figured that out.

I had just enough time to do a bit of fixing, before full blogging resume on Thursday.

So here it goes:
  1. Reworked the two "login" links (in the red bar on top and at some pages' bottom) following the reports that these were not working for some users. I'd appreciate if people like tinga-tinga and floridasuzie who had problems accessing the login form could give it a try and let me know if the link gets you somewhere now.
  2. Rebuilt the mechanism creating entries excerpts in the search engine’s results. On rare occasions, and depending on the nature and length of some entries, the previous one could trigger a blank page instead of the expected results. I also added a keywords highlight feature.
  3. And since I still had a bit of spare time, I put up a ranking system in case some of you want to quickly express their interest or their indifference for my posts. See the five stars next each entry's title, and click the "vote" link to cast your ballot.
That's it. Next in line are the photo galleries (Nope, Flicker is not for me) and possibly a system allowing you to send any article by email to any recipient ("email-to-a-friend" type thing) — this one is operational, but I'm still weighting its security/spamming implications (still, would you find that useful or not?)

Anyway, kindly let me know if I introduced more bugs than I squashed. I said kindly. Okay?

Update

Friendly advice: never thwart a Marine (even a former one) or a Texan.

So as requested by Mike and Val, the comment form now has a preview button.

Another quick note to let you know that I'm still a bit tied up until Thursday, at which point I will take a break from concrete, plaster and wood construction(1) and switch back from the drill to the mouse.

There's a lesson in this by the way: the more Socialist the economy, the more division of labor, its opportunities and its benefits vanish. Trust me on this.

Sorry folks, but it appears the busy part largely took over the chaotic one, and I have not been able to post in the past week.

Plus, I've had me some Adventures in Adversity and I also have the hunting and killing of a venomous snake (that looks like Vipera aspis from what I'm told) added to my to-do list. While I would favor my good old 12 gauge over anything else for that kind of duty, the close neighborhood environment requires a stealthier option; making it a perfect opportunity for my silenced and scoped .22 and her subsonic little friends(1) — this should be more fun than work.

More on that soon, as my schedule is beginning to clear up a bit.

How are you, Dear Reader(2), holding up? Killed anything interesting lately?
