DISCLAIMER: in my experience, the following doesn't apply to 99% of my readership. Unfortunately, experience also shows it has to be written down for the remaining 1%.

The short version, when it comes to my comments policy, goes down to a line taken from the (mediocre) second opus of the Matrix:

Let's elaborate a bit:

  1. Try to stay on topic. If you have a beef against the cow-fart(1) induced climate change and this post is about monkey spanking(2), then it's not the place to draw your sword(3).
    I have nothing against a freewheeling conversation, but if it's off-topic AND stupid or offensive, then it will have a badly limited lifespan.
  2. Consider the two following statements…
    • I'm totally open-minded when it comes to rational ideas.
    • It is quite obvious that Anti-Americanism, anti-Semitism, Islamism, Nationalism, Racism, Collectivism(4) and Multiculturalism (non-exhaustive list) exist in complete contradiction with Reason.
    … And guess the total amount of tolerance you can expect from me if you indulge in any of these.
  3. If you shall persist in these ways nevertheless, understand that I'm not spending countless hours of work on this site to "reach out", "debate" with you, "understand" your "root causes" or "learn" about your religion. Unlike race, ideology is something we choose, and for which we must bear all responsibilities. I loathe your sick mindset and what you defend and promote. I've heard all your pitiful excuses for your despicable totalitarian psyche and your compulsion to coerce or enslave your fellow men and women in the name of some "greater good".
    So understand that this is not a public forum: it is my outpost in the culture war you wage against me, my kin, my rights and my freedom — thus, you will only be tolerated here, and only if I decide so. I call the shots and I owe you nothing. As a matter of fact, I don't like having you around, so the only argument you're truly entitled to hear from me would come, if you insist, amplified through the barrel of my Sig-Sauer high powered rifle(5) — because when it comes to intolerant scumbags, I'm an intolerant bastard.

  4. I also have a very limited patience for social-democrats of all race and creed, center-of-center jellyfish and buttermonkey(6) hybrids, Blame-America-First (and always) Libertarians (usually of the Rothbardian school), Hollywood idiots & Festival-de-Cannes cretins and those Parisians who fancy themselves as an elite when they are nothing but the developed world's rednecks(7). However, I tend to ignore them, so they may consider themselves lucky if they manage to draw some sarcasm in colorful language from me.
  5. Yeah, and don't get me started on journalists and the Wonderful World of Mainstream Media...
  6. American and British soldiers (including the Commonwealth) stand on a special pedestal in my personal pantheon. Disrespect them here, and you'll quickly wish you'd rather stand naked in Mecca during Hajj, wearing only a sign that reads "Muhammad was a pedophile".
  7. I may moderate, remove or edit anything and give neither excuses nor explanations. It has nothing to do with "censorship": I am not a State, you are not a coerced citizen of said State and so you are always free to express yourself on your own facility and by your own means. Commenting is not a right, it is a privilege I grant or take away, according to my right as the owner of this place.
  8. My site is not awfully biased: it's shamelessly opinioned. If you're on my side, you get my vote and are free to rant 'n' roll. If not, live with it or go rot in the gutter.

  2. Évitez le hors-sujet. Si vous avez une rancune à l'égard de l'impact des pets de vache sur le changement climatique et que cet article traite de la fessée de macaque(1), alors ce n'est pas l'endroit d'où lancer votre croisade (2).
    Je n'ai rien contre une conversation à bâtons rompus, mais si c'est hors-sujet ET stupide ou insultant, ça aura une durée de vie salement limitée.
  3. Considérez les deux affirmations suivantes...
    • J'ai une ouverture d'esprit totale en ce qui concerne toutes idées rationnelles.
    • Il est évident qu' Anti-américanisme, anti-Sémitisme, Islamisme, Nationalisme, Racisme, Collectivisme(3) et Multiculturalisme (liste non-exhaustive) existent en complète contradiction avec la Raison.

Maybe it’s a bit of both—and none of the above.  How can a person who is doing such an smooth job of destroying a country and grabbing power for himself (something it appears he’s going to try at the international level as well, if given half a chance) say such utterly vapid things?  How on earth does he manage to get away with it (even become wildly popular from it)?  Is the dumb an act, and this is how he flies under the radar, or has the world just decided to become suicidal with the embracing of the stupid and/or wicked? 

I don’t know, could be either or both, but I will grant I’m beginning to find him rather karmic.

Well, affirmative action may have gotten him into a place where he could attempt what he has, but no, what is it that makes some people (a lot of people it seems) go gaga over him?  I mean, affirmative action can’t change one’s personal thoughts.  I didn’t even think political correctness could do such a number on an individual person. 

But there you have it—unless some sort of PCP pixie dust got dropped into the atmosphere two years ago, I can’t find any reason why people are giving this fellow such a pass, much less why a fair number of the earth’s inhabitants seem hell bent on near worship of him.

And I do think he’s a karmic freaking payback for humanity in all its stupid, vapid, spineless sheep-liness (I’m a bitter, jaded person)—above all else there doesn’t seem to be a damn thing that’s going to change what’s going on at least for a while; let’s hope it does, but until then the best thing to do, imho, is survive and don’t give in…and have a little laugh at our species’ expense (and the rest of the globe for that matter).

I am afraid, dear fellow Patriots (and you as well, French compadre Diss), that our once great nation is doomed to continue down this path. Our illustrious Democrat Socialist/Marxist party has gone about rigging all future elections with nary a peep from our alleged RINO party. The Re-education camps (used to be called schools) is fully in bed with these cretins and churns out generation after generation of left leaning nitwits, with the backing of our "judicial" system who try to defeat home schooling at every opportunity. We can’t have kids being educated by right thinking parents, can we? Of course not - there would be no opportunity for leftist indoctrination!

Meanwhile, our elected "representitives are too concerned with getting every dime they can from illegal campaign financing (thanks, Mr. McCain) and low (no?) rate cash from the banking industry that they ignore the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens pouring over our southern boarder, sapping our border states of critical funding for hospitals and services to TAX PAYING CITIZENS, while at the same time trying to take down law enforcement attempts by the Border Patrol and locals like Joe Arpaio. We can’t be Raaaa-CIST, right? Then of course we have the Muslim Brotherhood (aka CAIR) pushing their "moderate Islam" agenda to take over this country by applying the same standards as the Mexican government.

People - including our elected representitives - should be required to read Robert Spensers "Stealth Jihad" to get a clue what these Muslim bastards are up to. And if you really want to scare the bejabbers out of yourself - pick up a copy of Ted Bell’s "SPY" and ponder on the similarities of what is going down in our border states.

Why am I so naive?  DF warned us it was a puff piece and yet I still clicked on the link to the NYT article and was rewarded with such gems as the following:

2hotel9: sorry Bro, but I don’t get it. If you’re talking about the Atlas Shrugged post incident, are you aware privatei2 offered an apology, in case you felt you were attacked (or something along those lines)?

I believe he’s sincere, and I believe his only mistake (if any) was to overestimate the capacity of his words to convey sarcasm and humor accurately, which can and does happen to us all, including me - I don’t think he was trolling at all.

You’ve been a regular here for a long time, and you know I have no patience at all for drive-by shooters and other comment trolls. I implemented the registration system when I last redesigned the blog for two reasons: cut down on spam cleaning chores, and keep as many trolls away as possible. If I had the slighest doubt about privatei2’s intentions, he would already be out. I don’t, and I appreciate his contribution so far as much as any other reader (and dare I say friends for most of them).

If you have reasons to believe I’m wrong, then please let’s sort this out between gentlemen, either through private messages or email - and if privatei2 is reading this and feels he’s been unfairly singled out, then by all means let’s discuss it.

If the matter is closed, I’m going to open a can of my favorite British imported beer @22:30 GMT+1 tonight. I suggest you and privatei2 do the same (accounting for the shift in your respective time zone) and drink with me while we bury this hatchet. Let’s spare our figthing spunk for those who deserve it.

(Oh, and if privatei2 turned out to be a “she” rather than a “he”, then the grammar goes down, and the beer can be replaced with whatever you ladies drink.)

No problem, 2hotel.  I was out of town for a couple days or I would have responded to your post sooner (so as not to appear to be pouting).  I wasn’t here for the tea party, but I hear the local news barely mentioned it and there was a large turnout.  Heard that 8,000 were expected, but I don’t know how many were actually there.  

Then I get back to town too late for DF and 2hotel’s beerfest.  I would have brought chocolate martinis.  (ha!  I defy anyone to think I’m a man now!)  But thanks for not banning me.  I like it here.

The TEA Parties, much to the horror and embarrasment of the media, were a resounding success! Strong turnouts all over the country, even in areas where the weather was complete poopoo. And the majority of people atending got it. This is not a right/left thing, it is a right and wrong thing.
