DISCLAIMER: in my experience, the following doesn't apply to 99% of my readership. Unfortunately, experience also shows it has to be written down for the remaining 1%.
The short version, when it comes to my comments policy, goes down to a line taken from the (mediocre) second opus of the Matrix:
"I built this place. Down here, I make the rules."
Let's elaborate a bit:
AVERTISSEMENT : selon mon expérience, ce qui suit ne s'applique pas à 99% de mes lecteurs. Malheureusement, l'expérience prouve aussi qu'il faut que cela soit écrit pour le pourcentage restant.
La version courte, concernant ma politique pour les commentaires, se résume à une ligne tirée du second (médiocre) volet de Matrix:
"J'ai construit cet endroit. Ici, je fais les lois."
Élaborons un brin :
If you need further help with the site, you may want to check the Field Manual. Ultimately, you can also drop me a line. I usually don't answer jellyfish and buttermonkey(1) hybrids however.

Diss, Those Angles and Saxons are working you to death, eh? What Barbarians! (Am I getting my tribes mixed up here...) Do they have no sense of what is important in this world - vacation, money for nothing and, in the absence of one or the other of those, strikes? Oh, those uncultured Brits, they are corrupting you. Soon, you will become one of those money-grubbing capitalists who works overtime and yet somehow finds time to eat and sleep. (How DO they do that, btw?) Don’t forget your roots. Speak truth to power. Strike! Show your clients who’s boss! After all, blogging is a human right. Don’t let them strip you of our Humanity! |

Were this an American blog, we could just hire some scabs to blog in your place and get on with life. Now where to find people willing to work as scabs who are A) fluent in French, and B) fluent in Flash ... |

Strike? I am with you! For cyber fairness and basic blogger rights! Hurraah! Might I add a proposition for a policy of “blogger influence redistribution”? Surely the current system is slanted in favour of a few link-and-hit-rich blogs, but what about those millions of unread and ignored blogs out there? Let there be justice! |

Speaking about French jobs, those that work at Airbus can relax knowing that some of them are working a little extra because the EU threatened the poor, tsunami ravaged Thai government to buy their bloated airplane if the Thai’s wanted to sell shrimp. Back home, we call that extortion. In the EU they call it trade policy. Shame. http://cdrsalamander.blogspot.com/2005/01/european-unions-moral-rot.html |

I can believe the American government holds some responsibility. My government is horrible. I am ashamed to be called an American. |
