DISCLAIMER: in my experience, the following doesn't apply to 99% of my readership. Unfortunately, experience also shows it has to be written down for the remaining 1%.
The short version, when it comes to my comments policy, goes down to a line taken from the (mediocre) second opus of the Matrix:
"I built this place. Down here, I make the rules."
Let's elaborate a bit:
AVERTISSEMENT : selon mon expérience, ce qui suit ne s'applique pas à 99% de mes lecteurs. Malheureusement, l'expérience prouve aussi qu'il faut que cela soit écrit pour le pourcentage restant.
La version courte, concernant ma politique pour les commentaires, se résume à une ligne tirée du second (médiocre) volet de Matrix:
"J'ai construit cet endroit. Ici, je fais les lois."
Élaborons un brin :
If you need further help with the site, you may want to check the Field Manual. Ultimately, you can also drop me a line. I usually don't answer jellyfish and buttermonkey(1) hybrids however.

I read at Little Green Footballs That Frenchmen are experiencing such a funk that they have coined a word to describe it. Francopessimisme. And Iowahawk wants to give you a message: Cheer uphttp://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=8528_Reasons_for_French_Optimism REASON FOR FRENCH OPTIMISM 1. Drop in American tourism easily offset by throngs of Saudis at new ‘EuroMecca’ theme park in Marseilles 2. Only a matter of time before superior Gallic culture produces another Johnny Halliday 3. French scientists close to producing a dream genetic hybrid of Jerry Lewis &ichael Moore 4. Poodles—the other white meat! 5. For 35th consecutive year, French movie industry leads world in ponderousness 6. Government nearing settlement with Corpse Hauler Union 7. Several grad students at Kenyon still take Lacan, Foucault and semiotics seriously 8. Woody Allen ad campaign paying big benefits - PedoCon 2004 slated for Nice 9. Easier to get summer holiday accomodations this year, thanks to new Government program for coverting retirement homes to vacation villas |

“Yet another US casualty in Iraq.” Often this is all we hear in the states as well. NPR and PBS are on this bandwagon, with loads of talk about the troubles, the dead Americans, the large amount of money the reconstruction is costing, and whom is being paid to do it. I haven’t seen one damn thing in the main stream media concerning what we are accomplishing in Iraq. Not one damn sentence. |

I read that Saudi Arabia is having their first elections (I suppose this will be on city levels). In an absolute monarchy run by a completely family owned business without any public representation for 71 years ! Thats something , that is a result of Iraq. Forever we heard about the Arab street, now we might be able to hear what they have to say.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3188310.stm |

Outstanding post. I’ve linked back to it on my blog; I only wish that our own media would start discussing the successes along with the setbacks. I’m not asking for Pollyanna Sunshine News Broadcasts, for crying out loud, but I’d like as much information as possible. BTW, I see Syria wound up supporting the new UN resolution. I think the world may finally be waking up and smelling the java. We’ll see. |
