Yesterday December 31st, MS-DOS, Windows 3.xx, Windows 95 and Windows NT 3.5 reached what Microsoft calls
EOL, or "End of Life".
No matter what
one think about Microsoft (and just in case you wonder,
I am a lucid and vigilant but nonetheless
big fan. Sue me) one has to concede the bearing these products had in their time and the historical status they gained (I'm talking posterity, here).
I have a strong feeling of satisfaction when I think about the PC and Microsoft OSes (the so called "Wintel" duo).
They brought us all in the Information Age for a decent price and using cheap hardware.
So farewell MS-DOS, farewell Windows 3.x and 95.
It was fun, really.

Peu importe ce qu'
on pense de Microsoft (et juste au cas ou ça intéresse quelqu'un,
je suis un de leurs fans, lucide et vigilant mais néanmoins enthousiaste. Faites moi un procès) on se doit d'admettre la place importante que ces produits ont eu dans leur temps et le statut historique (dans le sens de postérité) qu'ils ont acquis.
J'ai un profond sentiment de contentement quand je pense au PC et aux systèmes d'exploitation de Microsoft (le fameux duo "Wintel").
Ils nous ont ouvert à tous les portes de l'Age de l'Information pour un prix raisonnable et en utilisant du matériel peu onéreux.
Alors adieu MS-DOS, adieu Windows 3.x et 95.
C'était sympa, vraiment.
