Where we demonstrate that ignorance is bliss...
In the bar (AKA the comments pages) members can elect to 'ignore' other members simply by adding them to their ignore list. Confused? Here's a case study:
Suppose
Michael Moore registered as a member on the dissident frogman's under the nickname "Baloney Pony" and started spewing his fud in the comment section.
Suppose I don't want to ban him permanently because I believe it's best to let him make an ass out of himself by trolling the comments—thus proving my point on his being such a pathetic barking mad loser of a propagandist.
Well, does it mean
you have to put up with him? No it doesn't. Not here, not anymore.
So supposing you are a member too—and you are currently logged-in—all you have to do is reach out to your control panel (click "Edit your profile" on the very first line at the top of any page. That goes to your CP) and click "Manage Ignore List" in the left hand side menu.
Click "Add member" button.
Add the member's screen name (in this case "Baloney Pony"), and click OK.
You're done. Comments by
Michael "Baloney Pony" Moore (any comment, past, present and future) will now show as a one line notice with a cool skullz & bones graphic that reads:
Here lies a comment from Baloney Pony, who you added to your ignore list. You can click here to show / hide it.
That's the cherry on top: even though you're ignoring that moron of a Michael
by default, you can still toggle the visibility of any of his comments at any time by clicking the "show/hide
(1)" link. And why would you do that? Well remember that the ignore list works on a per-user basis, which means other people might not be blocking the same people as you do, and might actually answer them.
So in case someone else bashed the idiot real good, and you want to know what prompted such a brilliant response, you can peek at any single comment without going back and forth unblocking Baloney Pony (or anybody else. Suppose Noam Chomsky registered at the dissident frogman's under the pseudonym "Asswipe58" and...)
(Oh and, before you start feeling like you own the place, be advised that there is one member you cannot ignore, and that's the Me. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can walk into the My house and goes about ignoring the Me, d'you hear me?)

Supposez que je ne veuille pas le bannir totalement parce que je pense qu'il vaut mieux le laisser se ridiculiser de lui-même en trollant les commentaires — démontrant ainsi la validité de mon argument, selon lequel il n'est qu'un pitoyable tordu et un propagandiste minable.
Cela veut-il dire que
vous deviez le supporter ? Non. Pas ici, et plus maintenant.
Supposons maintenant que vous soyez également membre inscrit — et que vous soyez actuellement authentifié — tout ce qui vous reste à faire est d'atteindre votre tableau de bord (cliquez "Edit your profile" sur la première ligne en haut de chaque page.) et cliquer "Liste d'exclusion" dans le menu de gauche.
Cliquez le bouton "Ajouter un membre".
Ajoutez le pseudo du membre en question (dans le cas présent "Madame Poupoule"), puis cliquez OK.
C'est fait. Les commentaires de
Michael "Madame Poupoule" Moore (tous les commentaires, passés, présents et futurs) seront réduits à une simple notice avec une cool tête de mort qui dit :
Here lies a comment from Madame Poupoule, who you added to your ignore list. You can click here to show / hide it.
La cerise sur le gâteau, c'est que même si vous ignorez ce merdeux de Michael par défaut, vous pouvez toujours afficher n'importe lequel de ses commentaires à tout moment en cliquant sur "click here to show/hide it
(1)". Et pourquoi ? Parce que que la liste d'exclusion est personnelle, ce qui signifie que les autres utilisateurs ne bloquent pas forcément les mêmes membres que vous, et peuvent même leur répondre.
Au cas où quelqu'un aurait bien bâché ce crétin, et que vous vouliez savoir ce qui à provoqué une réponse aussi brillante, vous pouvez jeter un œil à n'importe quel commentaire en particulier, sans avoir à exclure/inclure Madame Poupoule sans arrêt (ou n'importe qui d'autre. Supposez que Noam Chomsky se soit inscrit sur the dissident frogman sous le pseudo "Bibite58" et...)
(Au fait, avant que vous ne vous imaginiez faire la loi ici, soyez informé qu'il n'y a qu'un membre que vous ne pouvez pas exclure, et c'est le Moi. Personne, et je dis bien personne, ne peut venir dans la Ma maison et s'en aller ignorer le Moi, capice ?)
