Federal Flag Code, sec. 4.a:
The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
Here's hoping my American readers and friends won't need to memorize or follow that rule in the next four years.

Thanks, Monsieur Frogman! We've weathered disasters before. Having a Socialist-in-Chief is merely one more!

LOL!

Not digging in -- realigning and getting ready to hit the beach, and laughing like a crazy fox all the while!

With defeat comes the opportunity for future victories -- the popular vote results and the Congressional results give me reason to not be too glum ("hope" must now be taken from the vocab -- a pity, I like that word).

So weather the storm, hell; more like mark time for the advance I say. In winning, the socialists have shown they've got a pretty big chink in their armor to exploit. Will there be hard times? Will it be a long, hard pull? Most definitely, but nothing really good came without a good, hard fight.

Learn from the enemy's playbook, and craft a...surge? perhaps? (wink)

As H.L. Mencken once said, "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard." I had a conversation with my father about this yesterday when things started to look bad. Maybe it's a little early to prophesize doom for my country, but I decided to pin the flag upside down on my backpack when I attended class today. On a lighter note I can now use the "dissent is the highest form of patriotism" bumper sticker against the idiots that created it. Democrats need to learn that the door swings both ways.

Landslide, indeed. Bread-and-circuses, and now the bastards are going to have to pay up. Best of luck, O-man.

As much as I hate to be alarmist, I think you're right. The O-ministration will bring the war back to our turf here in the States. Personally, the hubby and I are well-prepared. We'll be sitting pretty in the 16th century while the rest of the country is just gutting it out just to survive in the tenth.

God, I love it when the old becomes new again.

Well, I am a bit stunned...but I'm surrounded by libs where I live (northern Virginia....oh! my beautiful state ended up going over to the blue side....) and at work (in the K-12 education field in Washington, DC) so I get all the liberal "ideas" all of the time. And they aren't nice people. Smug, condescending. But I had hoped we could pull it out. Thanks to McCain and Palin for standing up to what was really an impossible task -- there was too much emotion and build up and cheering from the media for it to have gone any other way.

And thank you, Frogman for your supportive thoughts. But you know how Americans are: we will soldier on. This is a setback, but we love our country and will take it back from the socialists. And I may just invest in a Don't Tread on Me flag.

My flag has been flying "dire distress" for the last 8 years.

The collective Impostor of what was the Conservative Republican party is now getting the HHH emema that it deserves. (for those of you unfamiliar with nursing terms: High, Hot and Hell of a lot)

Those who prefer "to live on their knees, than die on their feet" have assumed the perfect position for the administration of said HHH.

I predict 8 more years of "invasive bowel cleansing".
