There are those who where here almost from the start, and there are those who found the site yesterday.

There are those who just popped up here once, following a link from a fellow blogger site¹, an obscure web forum, the email of an enthusiast friend, or a big media news outlet², and there are those who hang around in the dacha on a daily basis.

There are those whose example gave me the inspiration and the incentive to start blogging, and there are those I inspired and who started their own blogs as a result.

There are those who contributed with funds and there are those who contributed with words of comfort and encouragement.

And there's been more than my share of each.

So writing this from a safe house a temporary haven in Chelsea, I'd like to invite you - wherever you are - to grab a bottle of bourbon, a shot of vodka, a glass of (Australian) Chardonnay, or sweet Mary Jane's bottom if that fits your current mood better and has Mary Jane's agreement, and join me for a toast.

Because you see, the dissident frogman frogman was born on this day in 2002. (and this was the first 'official' post)

In addition, I have to say it lead me from the most unexpected encounters³ to the most unforeseen places³, and do I hope I have not seen the end of it yet.

Yes, it's been a pair of interesting years, thank to you.

1: Too many to name them all, but not to cordially thank them all.

2: According to my (now) tottering memory (as a direct consequence of the recent ingestion of a certain Slovakian brandy), The Daily Telegraph, the National Review Online, and The Weekly Standard.
No I'm not bragging, I'm just stating facts while jumping all over the place, waving my arms and yelling ohboy-ohboy-ohboy with a silly look on my face, why do you ask?

3: A whole bunch of smart and talented individuals (you wouldn't believe), plus some high profile US officials (Though not enough and not long enough to cagily try to take advantage of them), some very impressive British academics (I do mean very impressive and very academics), Margaret Thatcher's finance minister (No, seriously. Now what about going out for a drink sweetie? Your place or my place?), in such various places as a very exclusive gentlemen' club in London (No, I'm not a regular member, I was just a guest. Your place sounds great to me, what do you think?), the British parliament and even some UN buildings (OK, so what about my place?)

Il y a ceux qui sont ici pratiquement depuis le début, et il y a ceux qui n'ont trouvé le site qu'hier.

Il y a ceux qui sont passé en coup de vent, suivant un lien sur le site d'un confrère blogger¹, un obscur forum, l'email d'un ami enthousiaste, ou les colonnes d'un organe de presse², et il y a ceux qui passent le temps dans la dacha sur une base quotidienne.

Il y a ceux dont l'exemple m'a inspiré et encouragé a blogger, et il y a ceux que j'ai inspiré en retour, et qui ont alors lancé leurs propres blogs.

Il y a ceux qui ont contribué financièrement, et il y a ceux qui ont contribué avec des encouragements.

Et j'ai reçu plus que ma part de chacun.

Par conséquent, écrivant ceci depuis un havre temporaire de Chelsea, je veux vous inviter - où que vous soyez - a vous saisir d'une bouteille de bourbon, d'un coup de vodka, d'un verre de Chardonnay (Australien), ou encore du postérieure de la douce Marie-Jeanne si cela sied mieux à votre humeur de l'instant et a de Marie-Jeanne l'agrément, et à vous joindre à moi pour porter un toast.

Car voyez vous, le dissident frogman frogman est né ce jour, en 2002. (et ceci est le premier post 'officiel')

Je dois ajouter que cela m'a conduit des rencontres les plus inattendues³ aux lieux les plus improbables³, et j'espère bien être encore loin d'en avoir vu la fin.

Oui, cela fut une paire d'années très intéressantes, grâce à vous.

Non, je ne crâne pas. J'énonce seulement des faits en courants dans tous les sens, en agitant les bras et en braillant ahlavache-ahlavache-ahlavache avec un air hystérique, pourquoi demandez vous ?

3: Tout un tas d'individus intelligents et talentueux, (vous n'imaginez pas), plus quelques officiels US de haut niveau (Bien que pas assez et pas suffisamment longtemps pour essayer d'en tirer sournoisement un quelconque avantage), de très impressionnants intellectuels britanniques (J'entends par là très impressionnants et très intellectuels), le ministre des finances de Margaret Thatcher (Sans charres. Maintenant pourquoi n'irions nous pas boire quelque chose ma belle ? Chez toi ou chez moi ??), en des endroits aussi variés qu'un club de gentlemen très exclusif à Londres (Non, je n'en suis pas membre permanent, j'étais juste invité. Chez toi ça me semble bien, qu'en penses-tu ?), le parlement britannique et même quelques buildings de l'ONU (OK, alors pourquoi pas chez moi ?)

Mes félicitations, M D.F., pour un blog bien fait. Malheureusement, il faut que j'ameliore mon français. Pour moi, je trouve que pour faire un blog bilingue, on doit posseder un peux de la patience et la discipline - dont je n'en ai pas assez. Anyways... excuse my French... I'm Canadian. Cheers.
