Registration is optional, but is free and gives you a few little bonuses—assuming you're logged in (manually or automatically) when you visit the site: flagging of new articles, more choice in RSS feeds, your personal member panel (to manage avatars and such), email alerts (only on major entries, in order not to clog your inbox with the small stuff), more commenting options that are free from antispam security codes and pre-publishing comment moderation, etc.In order to register successfully, please make sure the account activation email you will receive at the end of the process will not be blocked by a spam filter on your end, notably those of the Challenge-Response kind (that fire back an email requesting the sender to answer, before delivering your email). This is the #1 cause for problematic registrations. If you or your ISP are using such a system, do try to add my domain thedissidentfrogman.com to your antispam whitelist.
It goes without saying, but goes even better saying it: any information I collect through the registration process will not be sold, transmitted or shared with any third party.
I'm conscious that registration can be a bit bothersome which is why I insist that, should you have any problem with the process (decrypting the security codes and whatnot), you do not hesitate to contact me directly to help out.
Glad to have you onboard.
