They picked Kerry because even though they're not serious about national defense, they needed to convince just enough people to get the 50% + 1 votes. Kery gave them a (questionably) decorated veteran, something they weren't going to get with any of the other candidates. Unfortunately for them, Kerry simply couldn't overcome questions about his seriousness. Bush, on the other hand, was able to convince a majority that he was serious about defending the borders and bringing the fight to the enemy. And so he won. Bush's alcoholism, and discredited reports about his Texas Air National Guard service meant nothing by comparison with his willingness to topple regimes that sponsor terrorism. All Kerry had, by comparison, were three Purple Hearts he got for wounds that required band-aids, and which he did/did not throw away, and some questionable stories he could not prove. I See A Red Button Rising • On Ira Tous Au Bouton Rouge
John Kerry's memory of his Vietnam era appeared lately to be more and more distant from the truth and reality, almost on a daily basis. Indeed, his recollection of a certain Christmas supposedly in Cambodia, that has now been exposed and lies somewhere between personal fantasy and deliberate deceit, seems to be just one sham among many others - and probably not the worst of all. Interestingly enough, in the light of what we learned on his tour of duty and what he wanted the American people to believe, Kerry's attacks of Bush's service at the same time demonstrate yet another time a very familiar paradigm that, in my own experience, always proved to be right: When people on the Left accuse anybody or anything of anything, it means they're already guilty of it ten times more themselves*. I frankly couldn't care less about what John Kerry did in Vietnam - though I found particularly fulsome and despicable what he did immediately after - and the same goes for George W. Bush, as I'm much more concerned by both men's records in the current world conflict, than in the past one (yes, Bush wins hands down for the moment). However, Kerry himself chose to pick the fight this way. He opened Cambodia Pandora's Box by himself, and cornered himself in this uncomfortable position. So since he appears to be short on medals, either because he allegedly thrown them away, or because nobody seems to be so sure he was correctly awarded them in the first place, I offer him this red button. *: No seriously, it always works: see how they blame Capitalism for all the misery in the world, while Socialism has an unmatchable worldwide record of creating crass poverty. See how they charge America with colonialism and warmongering while Communist ogres devoured Eastern Europe and a large part of Asia (but failed in South America, thank in no small part to Ronald Reagan), whilst fuelling, financing and training terrorists and 'revolutionaries' of all kinds worldwide. See how they protest a supposed 'crushing of dissent' in liberal democracies, while this is in fact a pillar of all collectivist regimes and movements.

Les souvenirs de John Kerry, sur son temps au Vietnam sont apparus, quasiment quotidiennement, de plus en plus éloignés de la vérité et de la réalité ces derniers temps. En effet, son évocation d'un certain Noël, censément au Cambodge, maintenant exposée comme se situant quelque part entre fantasmes personnels et tromperie délibérée, semble n'être qu'une supercherie parmi d'autres - et probablement pas la pire de toutes. De manière intéressante, et à la lumière de ce que nous avons appris sur son temps au Vietnam et ce qu'il souhaitait faire croire au peuple américain, les attaques de Kerry contre les états de service de Bush démontrent une fois de plus un paradigme familier qui, dans ma propre expérience, ne s'est jamais démenti : lorsque des gens de gauche accusent quiconque ou quoi que ce soit de quoi que ce soit, cela signifie qu'eux même en sont déjà coupables au centuple.* Je me contrefous franchement de ce que John Kerry a fait au Vietnam - quand bien même je trouve particulièrement répugnant et méprisable ce qu'il a fait immédiatement après - et il en va de même pour George W. Bush, considérant que je suis bien plus préoccupé par les accomplissements des deux hommes dans le conflit mondial actuel que dans l'avant-dernier en date (oui, Bush l'emporte haut la main pour l'instant). Cependant Kerry a choisi de lui même de mener la bataille de cette manière. Il a ouvert de lui-même la Boîte du Cambodge de Pandore et s'est coincé lui même dans cette position inconfortable. Considérant qu'il semble être à court de médaille, soit puisqu'il les a censément jetées, soit parce qu'il semble que personne ne soit vraiment certain qu'elles lui aient été accordées régulièrement en premier lieu, je lui offre ce bouton rouge. *: Non sérieusement, ça marche à tous les coups : voyez comment ils blâment toute la misère du monde sur le Capitalisme, alors même que le Socialisme à un record mondial imbattable de création de la plus abjecte pauvreté. Voyez comment ils accusent l'Amérique de colonialisme et de bellicisme alors que les ogres communistes ont dévoré l'Europe de l'Est et une grande partie de l'Asie (bien qu'ils aient échoué en Amérique du Sud, en grande partie grâce à Ronald Reagan), tout en soutenant, finançant et entraînant terroristes et 'révolutionnaires' en tous genres de par le monde. Voyez comment ils protestent contre une supposée répression des voix dissidentes au seins des démocraties libérales, alors que c'est là l'un des piliers des régimes et mouvements collectivistes.
