As of June 2007, I have redesigned and relaunched the site at www.thedissidentfrogman.com/blog
This page won’t be updated anymore, and remains here for archiving purposes. After all, that’s a piece of my history.

I’m just next door, really. I have consolidated all the content of the site since 2002, and I’m running on a much improved software.

And Rarely Picks Up His Phone • Et Décroche Rarement Son Téléphone

Fired from France by the dissident frogman

I'm not such a big fan of this kind of tests usually, but since this one has been taken by a dependable guy, I thought I would give it a shot.

And I came out with this:
INFP - "Questor". High capacity for caring. Calm and pleasant face to the world. High sense of honor derived from internal values. 4.4% of total population.
Take Free Myers-Briggs Personality Test

Questor? Let's see. Like in:
« 1 a : any of various Roman officials in charge of public monies (as a treasurer of state or paymaster of troops) »
In charge of public money? Hmm, very unlikely: incompatible with the "high sense of honor" bit.
b : a public judge or prosecutor in a criminal trial in early Rome
Sounds great. Give me the case and I'll fix that.
I'm gonna fry that bastard. Calmly and with lots of care.
« 2 [Middle English questor, from Medieval Latin, from Latin quaestor] : an agent of a pope or bishop appointed formerly as a public preacher, charged with the mission of collecting alms, and authorized to grant indulgences to those contributing. »
"Formerly a public preacher charged with the mission of collecting alms." Well you course. What the hell do you think this blog is about?

The tip jar is in the left column. Please wait in line for your indulgence.

Well, well, well, all of this lacks the "caring capacity" part. So let's see, Questor and high capacity for caring?
« The Knight-Errant, often referred to as the Questor or Knight, goes about in search of adventure and helping those in need. They often go to the aid of those requesting help so long as the cause is one they see as just. They also often take 'quests' in the honor of one they hold in high esteem. (...) The Knight-Errant is generally a local hero who, though he holds those values considered worthy by the Knighthood he has been born into the wrong caste in society or detests the ways in which the Knights behave at court. »
My darn spitting image, innit?

"Calm and pleasant face to the world", as any regular reader of this blog will confirm (And they'd better confirm. Else, I can foretell a sudden increase of the death rate among regular readers of this blog. Calmly and with lots of care.)

"High sense of honor derived from internal value". Well I would confirm that, but I'm certainly not bragging about it.

This is not Camelot and the Round Table. From experience, I'd say that in this world, the sense of honor is much more a handicap than a value.

But again, maybe I'm just talking about XXIst century France here.

INFP - "Questeur".

Not a very good MBTI test, but decent. There are better ones out there, but they will require more time. A TRUE MBTI test will take a couple of hours and is very accurate.

Amy: that's interesting. Do you have any URL to share?

Posted by: the dissident frogman | October 17, 2003 07:04 PM

And, then, there is the League of INFP

Posted by: Jonathan Smith | October 18, 2003 01:29 PM

ENTP - "Inventor". Enthusiastic interest in everything and always sensitive to possibilities. Non-conformist and innovative. 3.2% pop.

I once had an associate/employee who'd sworn by these analyses... I could never tell him what I was, though he had some ideas :) FWIW, it seems pretty accurate considering the line of work I'm in and how I approach it...

best regards.

I don't have a link. I could probably find one that's a little better, but a *real* test will probably cost you money. There are several companies out there that do that sort of thing for companies and whatnot. There are also several books you can buy that have good tests in them. :)

Ok i took it _ I was bored

ISTP - "Artisan". Impulsive action. Life should be of impulse rather than of purpose. Action is an end to itself. Fearless, craves excitement, master of tools. 5.4% of total population

Posted by: Papertiger | October 20, 2003 07:15 PM

"artisan" - that a fine sounding word for bum. I flunked scribbling in Kindergarden, artisan? Fie , piff , and fiddle faddle.

I was hoping for something cool like "Warmonger" or "Spearfisherman"

Posted by: Papertiger | October 22, 2003 12:55 PM

Papertiger,
Now, that is not the attitude to have at all! One can be a skilled artisan at so many things--spear fishing, comgat. Eh?

Moi? Entertainer! Radiates attractive warmth and optimism. Smooth, witty, charming, clever. Fun to be around. Very generous. (I swear I am not making this up.)

No, you can't borrow any money.

Posted by: Valerie, the other | October 22, 2003 05:12 PM

Hey Valerie the other Yours is a cool one to have . I might take it again and target my answers to what I think a warmonging spearfisherman would answer.

Hey could I get you to co-sign for a loan?
just kidding

Posted by: Papertiger | October 22, 2003 08:35 PM

I'm bummed - they called me a "Journalist." Whom should I sue?

No, wait...the description is better. "Understands other people's motivations; looks at life like a story." But since when do professional journalists understand anything beyond their own navels? I'll have to invent a new, cooler label for the description - something like Frogman's "Knight-Errant." "I've always wanted to fight a desperate battle against incredible odds!"
