Brilliant as always DF. But it's very hard, then again...the truth is always the hardest to face.

Dear DF: That was powerful.
I have photos sent me by a friend, taken by a fellow who shot them from the top of the 40-story Banker's Trust building just days after the massacre. I would like them to be seen, as they give a better idea of the overall destruction than anything from ground level. May I send them to you?
Thanks for all you're doing.

Amazing presentation. Very well done and so aptly put. People forget far too easily.
I saw it in New York that day, and I will never, ever, forget.

C'est Magnifique! America needs to see this every day to remind the fools who think that war is always fought with guns that America was attacked and that war has been declared upon the United States by terrorists of every kind, not just Islamofacists.
Pacifists march and whine that war is so terrible, then go home and eat their dinners. The true pacifists are killing their enemies in order that they may have peace and dine in their homes secure from those who would threaten that home.

Thank god there are people like you still to be found in Europe. I don't think it's too much of an exaggeration to say that America is one of the last bastions of freedom in this world, and we certainly can't stand alone.

I think sound would dilute the message. Silence allows the viewer to fill in with his/her own imagination which (as the best horror movie creators know) is always more powerful.

LibraryGryffon:
My thoughts exactly: sound would have been at best superfluous and at worst an unpleasant distraction from the gravity of the event.
Some people, starting with Ted K. are obviously way too "distracted" on that issue.
Besides, this is not f* Hollywood anyway, right?

And Clinton didn't slash and burn the budget on national security and to the miiltary? The operative word here is "BEFORE" this unprecedented attack was launched on innocent civilians by evil minds.
I would be crazy to throw in with a flip-flopping opportunistic feeder from Taxachusetts. Until the attack on 9/11, and more importantly the "reaction" by the Left, I WAS a yellow dog Democrat. Terrorists done killed my yeller dawg. Thank God they got to it before they got to me. Never forget, never.
Cher, cher Frogaman,
I will never forget, ever. And it pains me that there are those out there who have. Thank you for taking your precious time to use your considerable talent to create this devastating reminder. Merci, merci, merci. Vous etes un bon et vrai ami des Etats Unis.

Val:
I wouldn't care too much about our Super Hawk romuald.
Judging by his first name and sloppy syntax, and as confirmed by his IP address, our expert in George Bush's National Security budget policy is commenting from the south of France...
It has to be some sort of the DNC strategy copycat: the whole "I'm John Kerry reporting for duty", tougher-than-thou-on-terror make believe.
Zeropean copycats put aside, I can't say I'm surprised how this party, that praise itself as being the party of the people after all, is not getting how rightfully angered the American people is. Even though, again, they don't even have the excuse to be French...

Romuald is quite correct President Bush did build the millitary before 9/11 and used federal funds in the process. Why this is a bothersome happening is beyond me. That increased millitary spending allowed for a quick and thourough ass whomping of Islamo-facists groupings from Afghanistan to Iraq, and you can safely bet your retirement that ass whomping in areas untold and areas yet to come will unfold in the near future. Bush, quite inlike Kerry, is willing to defy opinion polls to do what is right. Oh, by the way I just stumbled across your fabulous web site a few weeks ago, I was sure that fossilized remains of the French Conservitive was all that was left. I am overjoyed to have friends in Europe still.

DF,
The Left is a spent force. Their big idea of an idea is limited to opposing the person of GWB.
Here are a few policy surmises from the podium mush dished up at the Democratic convention.
* In Iraqi, they will simply do better -- though in some mysterious unspecified way because John Kerry will not tip his hand without the authority of the presidency. Guess you have to elect him to find out.
* On terror, again the Democrats will do better by -- please take a seat -- talking to the French, and maybe the Germans if they are in the room at the time. Pfft. They are also considering giving Iran nuclear fuel, so the Iranians don't have to go through the embarrassment of stealing it for bombs.
* On the economy, they will not raise taxes on the middle class. This is the oldest and rudest of Democratic campaign lies. Few people remember that Mr. Clinton ran in 1992 against the tax increases GB '41 conceded to Democratic Majority Leader George Mitchell. Mr. Clinton then went on to push through his own tax increase -- one of the largest -- (by 1 vote, supported by Messrs. Kennedy and Kerry) in his first year in office. Like Willy Sutton robbing banks, the government looks to tax the middle class because that's where the money is. American households making a million or more a year -- a thumbnail definition for the evil "rich" -- could be taxed at 100% and it still would not be enough to satisfy the voracious spending of government.
* Again on the economy, the Democrats will only create spectacularly well-paying jobs, none of those low-paying service sector jobbies. Will they magically resurrect the dot.com bubble? Or perhaps they intend to convert the entire American work force into Swiss bank managers. Who knows? There is a dearth of details. It's obvious that they haven't a clue, not the basest inkling, how a free market economy works. Job growth is always bottom heavy, not top heavy.
As for Mr. Kennedy, he never makes an appearance without the revenant Mary Jo Kopechne. Mr. Kennedy, incoherent, self-righteous, and shameless, voice quavering, lips trembling, pronounces the only fear ahead is Mr. Bush. And he is right. Mr. Bush spoils Mr. Kennedy's big liberal project.
That Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Clinton ("most ethical administration in American history" ever) and Michael Moore are standard-bearers for the Democratic party tells all that needs to be known about the party of donkeys.
Regards,
DGB

And Ted Kennedy in a black shirt - excellent. It might as well be brown.
It's as though the man doesn't realize that his day has come and gone, he's still waiting for the chance to be 'great' or to be of some service to the nation. He never will. He should just be agentleman, and retire gracefully, save some face - and spend his life accepting the thanks people will ineviatbly give his brothers.

You truly never cease to amaze me with your beautiful pieces. And I agree, certainly most soundtracks would detract. I can only think of one that would work, that being a single, mournful, minor chord sustained for the entire piece. As it is, I love it.

DF -
Just catching up. Sorry about being Nightfly-come-lately. Just stupendous work. Merci beaucoup.
By the way, do you know the only major network that I've seen show anything remotely like this lately, here in the states? ESPN. A-yep, that ESPN, the Worldwide Leader in Sports. They've had hour specials re-covering the biggest sports stories of the past 25 years, and one of them was the professional leagues' response to 9/11. They showed about 20 minutes of footage from the Towers and the Pentagon, including the people leaping down from 1000 feet. They're the ONLY ONES.
Hmmm...are the major news media willfully compliant with the Democrats' apparent strategy to campaign as if it's still 2000? Am I just a conspiracy nut?

What I fear comes in several packets...first off is the statists who think government is the answer to all problems...they are slowly strangling what's left of our Republic, second is the morons who think if we retreat behind our Atlantic moat that the Muslim fascists will leave us alone(what happens then to the Europeans who backed us when we needed it?), third and last is the US judicial system and how it continually fails the people/US Constitution it's supposed to protect....
